08 Jan 2025
The highly anticipated film *Vanangaan*, produced by Suresh Kamatchi of V House Productions and directed by acclaimed filmmaker Bala, is set for a worldwide theatrical release on January 10, coinciding with the festive occasion of Pongal. S
Starring Arun Vijay in the lead role and Roshini Prakash as the female lead, the movie has already generated significant buzz among audiences and critics alike.
Bala, known for creating career-defining roles, has previously propelled actresses like Abitha, Laila, Pooja, Janani Iyer, and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar to great heights. Expectations soared when Roshini Prakash was announced as the female lead in *Vanangaan*.
Roshini, who started her acting journey in 2016, has captivated audiences across Telugu, Kannada, and Tamil cinema. Her recent Kannada release *Murphy* garnered national attention, and her role in the late Puneeth Rajkumar’s *Lucky Man* further solidified her talent. Though she has previously appeared in the Tamil film *Jada*, Roshini considers *Vanangaan* a turning point in her career.
Sharing her experiences working on the film, Roshini says, “I got the opportunity for *Vanangaan* after the team reviewed my profile and invited me for an audition. After performing a few scenes, I was selected for the role. This film has given me the courage to take on any challenging roles in the future.”
She addresses the misconception about Bala’s directorial approach, saying, “There’s a common perception that Bala sir is strict and rigid on set, but my experience was completely different. He ensures all actors have clarity about the scenes and brings out the best in them with his guidance. His constant encouragement and appreciation made the process immensely rewarding.”
Roshini highlights how *Vanangaan* gave her an opportunity to explore her craft. “Bala sir’s films always give prominence to every actor, and my character in this movie has been no exception. His mentorship helped me rediscover my potential as an actor. I now feel confident enough to take on complex roles.”
She also spoke about working with Arun Vijay, describing him as a supportive co-star. “During a scene, I requested Arun Vijay for space to perform, and he graciously obliged, offering his assistance. He adapts so effortlessly to Bala sir’s direction and delivers outstanding performances.”
In addition to Bala, Roshini expressed her gratitude for collaborating with four acclaimed directors, including Samuthirakani, Mysskin, and AL Vijay. “Working with versatile directors like them was like attending a Masterclass. They never treated me as a newcomer and shared valuable insights that enhanced my performance.”
Roshini formed a close bond with co-star Varalaxmi Sarathkumar’s mother, Chaya Devi, who plays a pivotal role in the film. “Off-camera, I spent a lot of time with Chaya Devi ma’am. She made me feel at home, and I truly missed her presence when she wasn’t on set.”
Reflecting on the experience, Roshini says, “*Vanangaan* taught me the importance of discipline and decorum on set. Though I’ve worked in three regional industries, this film will always hold a special place in my heart. It gave me the clarity and confidence to navigate my future in cinema. Before this project, many didn’t know me, but now, I feel like I’ve found my footing in the industry. I’ll always consider *Vanangaan* my lucky break.”
With just days left for its grand release, *Vanangaan* promises to be a film that not only entertains but also elevates its performers to new heights.
