Kara is a 2026 Indian Tamil-language heist action thriller film directed by Vignesh Raja, screenplay co-written with Alfred Prakash. Produced by Ishari K. Ganesh under Vels Film International, the film stars Dhanush in the lead role as Karasaami (Kara), alongside Mamitha Baiju, K.S. Ravikumar, Jayaram, Suraj Venjaramoodu, and others. With music by GV Prakash Kumar, it was released on 30 April 2026.
The story is set in 1991 Ramanathapuram during the Gulf War. It follows Karasaami, a reformed thief with a violent past, who is pulled back into crime and danger when his family’s ancestral land is seized. The film explores themes of sin and virtue, family protection, and survival as he confronts his abandoned past in a high-stakes heist-action narrative.
