In a dream collaboration that’s set the Tamil film industry abuzz, acclaimed director Karthik Subbaraj has joined hands with legendary music maestro Ilaiyaraaja for his milestone 10th directorial venture. The yet-untitled Tamil indie film, produced by Oscar-winning Sikhya Entertainment in association with Jio Studios, also marks Ilaiyaraaja’s 1540th project in a remarkable 50-year career.
Subbaraj shared the exciting news on social media today with a heartfelt video capturing the maestro greeting him and producer Guneet Monga, playing soulful tunes on his harmonium, and even gifting the director a signed guitar—moments Subbaraj captioned as “A Dream…. A Blessing… #Dream10Blessing1540.”
Production on the film, which blends Subbaraj’s signature intense storytelling with Ilaiyaraaja’s timeless melodies, began in Madurai following a traditional pooja ceremony in November 2025.
Fans and fellow artists have poured in celebrations, hailing the pairing as a historic reunion of modern cinema and musical brilliance, though details on the cast and storyline remain under wraps for now.
